Refugee Feeding Support in Hotels

The need: Refugee families placed in temporary hotel accommodation, particularly during Ramadan, often had no access to home-cooked food that reflected their culture, their dietary needs, or simply a sense of normality during an extraordinarily difficult time.

What UNA Global South did: Through what was then Voice of African Women, we organised direct food provision: shopping, cooking, and delivering meals to families in hotel accommodation. The work was funded substantially through personal contributions from our founder, alongside donations from the wider community, and run by volunteers who gave their time to cook and deliver.

The outcome: Consistent, dignified food support delivered directly to families who needed it, sustained through some of the hardest years for refugee accommodation in London (2019 to 2022). This work paused as capacity changed, and remains an area we hope to formally relaunch.
